If you've had 2 or more boil-like abscesses in the past 6 months, you could have HS. 

HS can affect anywhere on the body where there are hair follicles (there doesn't have to be a hair present for there to be a follicle).  This means you can get HS anywhere on the body with the exception of the soles of the feet, palms of the hands and red parts of your lips. 

HS does have its most favorite areas to impact such as the groin and armpits for both men and women, back of neck for men, and under breasts for women.
